Elizabeth Taylor’s Peregrina Fetches Record Price

NEW YORK – Elizabeth Taylor the iconic actress of the wide screen wasn’t just known for her stunning beauty and her violet eyes. Hollywood’s legend had a collection of diamonds that made even Queen Elizabeth blush.

One of Taylor’s stunning pieces of jewelry was auctioned off in New York for an more stunning price.

The actress’ famous Peregrina pearl necklace that she wore to several Oscar shows was
auctioned off by Christie’s Auction House for a record 11.84 million dollars.

The necklace which was once part of the Spanish crown jewels was estimated to be worth between 2 and 3 million dollars but obviously that’s not what avid collectors thought.

Tuesday’s auctioning of the Peregrina was the start of a four day event where many of Elizabeth Taylor’s jewels, clothes and art will be sold and auctioned off.

‘Queen Cleopatra’ Elizabeth Taylor died in March at the age of 79 from health complications.
