Kony 2012 Producer Behind Bars

SAN DIEGO – 33 year old producer of the now extremely popular documentary Kony 2012, Jason Russel, was arrested in San Diego on Thursday for lewd behavior and intoxication in public.

According to San Diego police, Russel ran naked through the streets and made sexually tainted hand gestures.

Jason Russel is the brain behind the incredibly successful YouTube video Kony 2012, which has been viewed a staggering 80 million times.

The documentary portrays how a man named Kony who heads the Guerrilla Army Of The Lord (LRA) ruthlessly and mercilessly have committed thousands of murders over the past several decades in northern Uganda, Africa.

Thousands of children have been kidnapped and have been forced to become child soldiers or sex slaves.

Why Russel wondered in the streets of San Diego is still being investigated.

CEO of the company behind the Kony 2012 project, Ben Keesey, says that Russel has been under a great deal of stress lately.

“The last two weeks have been emotionally very heavy for us, especially for Jason,” said Keesey.

“That may have led to the unfortunate incident. Jason’s passion and his work mean so much for others we find it terrible to see him struggle with his own health issues,” Keesey told TMZ.

San Diego police refused to state if they will file an official claim against the producer.
