WASHINGTON – A quick thinking, fast acting 13 year old student in Washington has been credited with preventing what could possibly have become a deadly school bus accident.

When Jeremy Wuitschic realized something had happened to the bus driver, the 7th grader jumped into action.

Without hesitation, Jeremy grabbed hold of the steering wheel and managed to keep the bus from slamming into a wall. While holding the wheel with one hand, the quick thinking teen turned the bus engine off and removed the key from the ignition.

When the bus came to a halt, Jeremy devoted all his attention to the bus driver who had apparently fainted from sudden seizures while driving the bus.

The lad shook the driver and pounded him several times on the chest. Eventually the driver gained conscious again.

But Jeremy was still not done. He quickly called 911 and summoned for an ambulance. A good thing he did. Turns out the 43 year old bus driver didn’t have seizures but suffered a heart attack while driving. He is still in critical condition.

“He looked funny and made a strange noise,” said Jeremy.

“His eyes were welling up and his arms hung limb next to his body.”

The camera installed in the bus that captured Jeremy Wuitschic’s heroism leaves no doubt that the lad’s quick acting was responsible for avoiding what could have possibly become a disaster with deadly consequences.
