NASHVILLE – Legendary rock&roll singer Jerry Lee Lewis doesn’t let age (76) stop him from saying ‘I Do’ to his seventh wife.
‘The Killer’ married in Mississippi on March 9 to Judith Brown.
Brown has been taking care of Lewis for several years all ready and is the former ex of the singer’s brother-in-law.
The marriage was so secretive, even Lewis’ daughter, Phoebe Lewis, who lives with him, wasn’t aware her dad had gotten married again.
For Jerry Lewis, ‘keeping it in the family’ so to speak is nothing new. In 1957 he got married for the third time to his 13 year old great niece Myra Gale. Lewis was then 23. Myra and Lewis stayed married for 13 years.
Myra was the daughter of Lewis’ cousin who was a guitar player in his band. Marrying a family member was so controversial in those days that it almost ended the flamboyant performer’s music career.
He was banned from several radio stations and from a music performance in the U.K..Lewis’s first marriage was at the tender age of 14 when he married his 17 year old sweetheart Dorothy Barton. That marriage lasted 20 months.
Only 3 weeks after divorcing Barton, Lewis wedded Jane Mitchum in 1953. That marriage lasted four years and delivered two children.
In December 1957, Lewis married his cousin’s daughter, 13 year old Mary Gale Brown. He had two children with her. Their marriage ended December 1970.
Lewis’ wife #4 became Jaren Elizabeth Gunn Pate. She drowned in their swimming pool in 1983.
Up next was Shawn Stephens whom he married in June 1984. Three months into the marriage, Stephens died from overdosing on methadon.
Jerry then got married for the sixth time to Kerrie McCarver. That marriage lasted 20 year. Together they conceived one son.
