BEIJING – Chinese actor Jacky Chan says “he’s hanging up the gloves” as far as his action riddled acting career goes.
Chan says that at 58 he is too old to do all those dangerous stunts and the world is already violent enough as is.
The Hong Kong actor said his latest film, Chinese Zodiac, will be his last action movie.
Launching the film in Cannes with co-stars Kwon Sang Woo, Yao Xingtong and Liao Fan, Chan said people never believed him when he said he was going to retire.
“They say, ‘no, you’re still young, you can still do it’, but I have to stop one day.”

Chan said he is bowing out with “Chinese Zodiac” because it’s one of the “most important” films in his career.
He wrote, produced, directed and co-ordinated fights scenes for the film and says he’ll now make films with acting rather than action.
