Elton John Devastated By Bassist’s Death

LONDON – Singer Elton John is devastated by the death of his band’s bassist Bob Birch.

Bob Birch who is the bass guitar player in Elton John’s band was found dead on Wednesday.

“I am absolutely devastated and shocked with the loss of my friend and music colleague Bob Birch,” Elton wrote in a statement on his site on Thursday.

Bob Birch was bass player and backing vocalist in the Elton John Band for twenty years, performing at 1,441 Elton John concerts and on over 50 studio songs.

Elton John calls Birch one of the best musicians he ever played with.

“In all the years we played together I have never caught him playing off key,” John said.

“I don’t have the words to describe his tragic death. I can’t express how much I loved him. May he rest in peace.”

Bob Birch allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He was 56 years young.
